Kurt Nauck

Kurt Nauck is proprietor of Nauck's Vintage Records, the largest company in the world dealing exclusively in vintage 78rpm & cylinder recordings.

Having written extensively on recorded sound, his articles have appeared in numerous publications including the New Amberola Graphic, For the Record, Discoveries, Capitolium, the ARSC Journal, and Talking Machine Review. He is the founder of the American Vintage Record Labelography database project .

Kurt has also authored, co-authored and contributed to several books including Note the Notes: An Illustrated History of the Columbia Record Label; the American Record Label Image Encyclopedia; The Collector's Guide to Victor Records; American Record Labels & Companies: An Encyclopedia (1891-1943); and a forthcoming discography of Indestructible and U-S Everlasting cylinders.

He is active in the Association for Recorded Sound Collections, having served as Chair of the Dealers' Committee, Conference Manager and President of the Texas ARSC Chapter. He is a member of the International Association of Sound Archives, the International Association of Jazz Record Collectors, the City of London Phonograph & Gramophone Society, the Canadian Antique Phonograph Society, the Music Box Society International and many others. He is also a degreed wildlife biologist and a life member of the National Wildlife Federation and the National Rifle Association (for what that's worth).

Along with his able assistant Brian Schellberg, Kurt produces Nauck's Vintage Records Bidder Request Show — an acclaimed program broadcasting over the Internet twice a year courtesy of Radio Dismuke. He received a 2009 Grammy nomination in the Best Historical Album category for Polk Miller & his Old South Quartet.

Kurt resides in Spring, Texas, where he spends his leisure time kayaking, playing tennis, fiddling around with his classical guitar and running his other business, Texas Ready, a company selling heirloom seed banks for persons interested in growing their own food.
