William R. Bryant was a regular contributor to New Amberola Graphic and other collectors' publications, and the
co-author of Oxford and Silvertone Records. He contributed to many other major projects while pursuing his own extensive research.

Decades in the making, Emerson Records is the first systematic study of these long-neglected 78s.

The data are based on first-hand observation of countless original discs by the late Bill Bryant and a group of highly respected contributors who were associated with Record Research magazine. Part 1 includes:

  • Details for all 10" and 12" Emerson records (including the popular, standard, race, classical, operatic, and ethnic series), arranged by catalog number
  • Data on the thousands of corresponding subsidiary- and client-label issues (U.S.
and foreign), including verbatim label credits, artist pseudonyms and song retitlings, exact take numbers, control numbers, etc., appearing on each issue
  • Accompanists, directors, band vocalists, artist pseudonyms, and retitled songs
  • Confirmed release dates and estimated recording dates
  • Composer and show credits
  • Detailed, illustrated historical introduction, with corporate genealogy chart, and user's guide
  • Artist, supporting artist, and title indexes
